  Death certificate lists him as 116 years old at time of death. However, 1850 us census records show him as 16 years old, which would make his birth date 1834, not 1814. In 1850 his mother was listed as 55 years old and in the household is Maryy, 19 years old. That would make her at least 38 when Marvel was born. The youngest child was 12, which would make her 43 at the time of his birth. She would have been born in 1795 and likely had other children who were no longer in the home in 1850.
