  Obituary Vernon Adkisson, 86, Route 3, Harriman, Coalfield Community, died at his home Saturday at 9:50 p.m. He had been in ill health for some time. A member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield, Mr. Adkisson was a retired coal miner. He worked here in the early days of Oak Ridge as a blacksmith. He is survived y a son, Raymond Adkisson; daughter-in-law, Georgia Adkisson, both of Harriman; three grand-children, Ray Adkisson, Jeffrey Wayne Adkisson, and Pat Adkisson Ward, all of Harriman; five great-grandchildren; and several nephews and one neice of the Coalfield Community. The funeral was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Powell officiating. Burial was in Estes Cemetery.
