- Death has taken a former Harriman and Northeastern Railway foreman in the passing of Will Brummett at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Campbell, on Friday of last week. Mr. Brummett had retired as Section Foreman at Coalfield in the early forties [1940s]. At the time of his retirement he had been employed on the Harriman and Northeastern line for almost half a century. Following his retirement he continued to live in the Back Valley community for a number of year. After the passiing of his wife, he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ethel Campbell. Mr. Brummett was 88 years of age and had been in ill health for several months. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Oliver Campbell of Coalfield; Mrs. Jerry West, RRt 1 Oliver Springs; and Mrs. Coral Page [Cora Pooge] of High Point, NC; one sister, Mrs. Lilly Hendrix of Clinton. Funeral Services were conducted from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of which Mr. Brummett was a member by Rev. Tom Duff Fritts on Sundy afternoon.
